As of July 22 2014, the leadership of Remnant's has decided that a document outlining rules and expectations within the FC should be implemented. This document is for new recruits as well as existing members to read over.
REMNANTS XIV
About Us:
Simply put, Remnants XIV an EST based Free Company with a focus on end game content.
Community:
As a Free Company, Remnants can be described as a laid-back, mature community of gamers who approach Final Fantasy XIV: ARR with goal oriented mindsets. Our ranks are always open to those who are seeking such an atmosphere. We encourage members and recruits to jump on mumble and get to know people as there is often something going on.
Organization:
We have established 8-person static groups for the Binding Coil of Bahamut in order to encourage groups to learn, grow, and achieve longterm goals together. These statics are internally governed and led by a team captain (organization and planing is determined by the static and it's captain, not the FC's leadership.) With regards to non-TBCB content, such as primals, we encourage our members to utilize our forums in order to communicate what they want to do or when they need help and advice. All other content, such as 4-person dungeons, Frontlines / Wolve's Den, or Crystal / Syrcus Tower (until 24 person premades are possible) can be brought up in the Remnants linkshell channel, FC channel, or mumble.
Rules and Expectations
Rules:
1. Be respectful of other members. It's simple really, we all can take a joke, but don't be an asshole! Blatantly disrespectful behavior / language should be reported immediately if no officers are present. If the behavior / language is serious enough to be considered highly offending or exclusionary, the leaders of the FC will investigate the matter. All investigations will be dealt with on a case by case basis. If the case is serious enough, the individual(s) may be immediately removed from the FC without warning.
2. As a member of Remnants XIV, you represent us at large. Your interactions with other individuals will have an impact on the way people view our Free Company. Keeping this in mind, unprovoked disrespectful language / behavior with non-members will be dealt with as if it were directed at one of our own members.
3. Content posted on our forums must not violate rules #1 or #2. Any content posted on the FC forums that is inappropriate will be removed. Individuals who post inappropriate content on our forums will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
4. Loot distribution is determined by your choice of primary and secondary job. You must choose ONE primary job and ONE secondary and state this in the “Primary/Secondary stuff” thread. In order to qualify for choosing a job as your primary or secondary, you must have leveled that class to 50 and have the job's Soul Gem. Primary jobs are eligible to Need on anything that concerns their class/job. Loot for your secondary jobs are eligible for Greed lot in cases where the primary jobs either already own that piece, do not desire that piece, or are completely absent. If you intend to change your primary or secondary job, then you should update your post in “Primary/Secondary stuff,” but know that switching your primary and secondary should be a rare occasion (often spurred by a requirement to fulfill the needs of a static.) Inability to respect this system, even if the offense is not deliberate, will be treated similarly to disrespectful behavior in rule #1.
Clarification: In cases where a member of the FC are asked to switched to a job other than their primary in order to complete group cohesion, then those members who share the same primary job as that individual will greed instead of need. This rule is specifically aimed at non-TBCB2 content which is often organized spontaneously and is less rigid than our statics.
5. Everyone has their own opinion, but don't let that get in the way of the game. Confrontations between players are not welcome on mumble or FC/LS chat; there is a clear difference between a heated argument and a friendly conversation!
6. Our mumble server is for recruits and members ONLY. Special exceptions are made only if leadership approves.
7. Any involvement in cheating, whether it be botting, using third party programs beyond their intended use or any other form of game exploitation is strictly prohibited.
8. Players who do not log in for more than 35 days will be changed to the Inactive rank, which has limited privileges. Players returning to the game should message an FC officer to discuss returning to Member status. Due to limited space, players in the Inactive rank may be removed from the linkshell.
Expectations:
1. Come prepared for planned content: proficiency with your class/job (ilvl, rudimentary or higher understanding of class/job), basic knowledge of a fight (although this is not necessary for new content), having consumables on person, and having the right mindset (willingness to improve, see #2). Our members don't mind giving a helping hand, but we expect that you have taken the necessary steps to prepare yourself before others take the time to assist you. Use the forum to organize non-TBCB2 content, set a date, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
2. Be open minded to critical feedback from other experienced members regarding DoW and DoM performance. We have members who have become very proficient with their class/job and they are there for you to utilize if need be. Of course, this expectation goes both ways; share what you know about your class with others who would benefit from that knowledge. Nobody is out to get you here when they try and give you advice!
3. Be courteous to other players who are using mumble for organized content. Although mumble can be used(and often is used) for social communications, please be mindful of players who may be using a channel for specific content. Interrupting at a critical moment during a fight can undermine a groups success.
